On May 25, 2026, the mini-football tournament for faculty and staff of the Sotim Ulughzoda Tajik International University of Foreign Languages concluded. It was organized in honor of Youth Week, World Football Day, and the 35th anniversary of the Republic of Tajikistan’s independence.
The awards ceremony was attended by the university’s rector, Doctor of Philology, Professor Jilo Gulnazarzoda.
In her speech, the university rector noted the increasing attention of the state and the government to the development of sports, particularly football, and praised the creative initiatives of the President of the Football Federation of Tajikistan, Rustam Emomali, aimed at developing a culture of sports. It was emphasized that holding such competitions promotes a healthy lifestyle and fosters mutual understanding, friendship, and cohesion among faculty and staff.
It should be noted that the tournament lasted two weeks, with eight teams representing the university’s rector’s office and faculties participating. The matches were held in an atmosphere of healthy competition and high athletic motivation, with each team striving to take the top spots.
At the same time, a mini-football tournament, titled “Gurdofaridoni University,” was organized for university women, which was actively participated in by the team members.
In the men’s competition, the team from the Faculty of English Language and Pedagogical Studies took first place. The team from the Faculty of Philology and Journalism took second place, and the team from the Faculty of Oriental Languages Translation took third place.
In the women’s competition, the team from the rector’s office, which demonstrated the best results, emerged victorious in the round-robin matches.
At the end of the tournament, the winners and most active participants were awarded cups, medals, certificates of honor, and commemorative gifts from the university administration.
