The Department of Distance Education (E-learning Department) of the Tajik International University of Foreign Languages named after Sotim Ulughzoda was established by the decision of the Academic Council (Protocol No. 3/4-2) dated October 26, 2027. The Department includes staff positions: Head of the Department, Chief Specialist, and Specialist. The establishment of the Department is aligned with the strategic guidance of the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon. In his speech on the Day of Knowledge and during the opening ceremony of the new building of the Academy of Internal Affairs on August 30, 2017, the President emphasized: “Now it is time to abandon traditional correspondence education and transition to e-learning. Under modern conditions, it is impossible to imagine the educational process without the widespread use of advanced technical and technological tools.”
Concept and Nature of E-learning
E-learning is a modern form of organizing the educational process using information and communication technologies (ICT), which enables students to study remotely without constant physical presence in the classroom. At the same time, e-learning should not be understood as a complete replacement of interaction with teachers. Rather, it represents a transformed model of correspondence education, where:
- interaction is maintained through digital tools;
- communication takes place via e-mail, online platforms, and virtual classrooms;
learning becomes more flexible and accessible.
Technical Infrastructure and Access
Access to the e-learning system is provided through individual login credentials (username and password), ensuring secure and personalized use of the platform.
The e-learning system of the university is integrated into the global Internet network and is accessible via the platform: fosilavi.ddzt.tj
This system allows students and academic staff to access educational materials, communicate, and participate in the learning process in real time.
University teachers can:
- conduct theoretical and practical classes online;
- organize discussions, training sessions, and consultations;
- manage learning activities remotely.
Objectives of the E-learning System
The primary objective of the e-learning system is to:
- improve the quality of education;
- increase the university’s academic competitiveness and rating;
- provide flexible learning opportunities;
- ensure access to education for students who cannot attend classes physically.
Student Opportunities within the System
The system provides students with the following functionalities:
- Online communication with teachers, including instant consultations via internal messaging systems, e-mail, and other telecommunication tools;
- Access to theoretical and practical learning materials in digital formats (presentations, audio lectures, video tutorials);
- Participation in forums, discussions, and group collaboration at any time;
- Access to curricula, syllabi, academic plans, and class schedules;
- Monitoring academic progress, including test results, exams, and grading;
- Use of the electronic library and access to required academic literature;
- Viewing current and final semester grades;
- Personal account management (updating password, profile photo, and personal data).
Teacher Functional Capabilities
Teachers access the system through their personal accounts, where academic subjects are assigned according to their teaching workload. They are required to upload educational materials in accordance with:
- curriculum requirements;
- standards of the e-learning platform (MOODLE system).
The system provides teachers with the following capabilities:
- Managing personal profiles;
- Posting announcements and messages to student groups;
- Creating and administering tests for current and final assessments;
- Developing assessment materials for ongoing evaluation;
- Organizing and moderating forums;
- Conducting lectures in online and blended formats;
- Accessing and managing class schedules;
- Preparing and recommending academic literature;
- Using the electronic library resources;
- Receiving updates and notifications within the system;
- Designing and integrating assignments and practical tasks.
Educational Significance of E-learning
E-learning represents a scalable and inclusive educational model that expands access to education for:
- students seeking secondary or higher education remotely;
- individuals unable to attend traditional in-person classes.
It enhances: - independent learning skills;
- digital literacy;
- ability to work with large volumes of information.
Working within digital platforms also improves students’ analytical and technical abilities, including performing calculations, preparing academic assignments, and using global information resources.
