MUSEUM – A MIRROR OF NATIONAL HISTORY AND CULTURE

On the occasion of International Museum Day, celebrated annually on May 18, a series of cultural, educational, and recreational events was held at the National Museum of Tajikistan.

On the evening of May 18, 2026, a festive event entitled “A Night at the Museum” took place at the National Museum, with active participation from lecturers and students of the International University of Foreign Languages of Tajikistan named after Sotim Ulughzoda.

During the event, it was emphasized that museums serve as repositories of history, culture, and national identity, playing a vital role in preserving the nation’s heritage. Through museums, the invaluable legacy of ancestors is safeguarded and presented for study and appreciation by future generations.

As part of the “A Night at the Museum” program, participants explored the map “Historical Monuments of Tajikistan” and visited various exhibition halls and sections of the museum, including displays dedicated to the Achaemenid Empire, Sassanian period, Ancient Panjakent, Bunjikat, the Ajina-Teppa Buddhist Monastery corner, the Samanid period, Numismatics (Coins), the department of modern and contemporary history, and the hall “Gifts to the President of the Republic of Tajikistan.”

The lecturers and students also became acquainted with rare books, manuscripts, and valuable historical artifacts from the Samanid era. They viewed outstanding examples of traditional wood carving as well as historical models and sculptures representing the Samanid Mausoleum and the Khoja Mashhad Mausoleum and Madrasa.

The event “A Night at the Museum” provided participants with an excellent opportunity to become closely familiar with the ancient history, rich culture, and civilizational heritage of the Tajik nation.
