DISCUSSION OF PRESSING ISSUES IN ORIENTAL PHILOLOGY AT AN INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE

Today, April 30, 2026, an international scientific and practical conference titled “Pressing Issues of Oriental Philology in Linguistic and Literary Relations in the Context of Globalization” was held at the Tajik International University of Foreign Languages named after Sotim Ulughzoda, with the broad participation of scholars and researchers from both within the country and abroad.

Among the participants of the international forum were the Rector of the University, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor Zhilo Gulnazarzoda; Chief Researcher at the Center for Sinology of the Institute of Philosophy and Political Science named after A. Bahovaddinov of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor Sayidrahmon Sulaimonov; Head of Department at the Institute of Folklore of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor Rizaev Sayfiddin Gulverdi oglu; and Senior Researcher at the same institute, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor Sayilov Golib Amirogo.

In his opening remarks, the Rector Zhilo Gulnazarzoda spoke about the achievements of the Independence era, the contribution of the Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon, to the establishment of a sustainable education system, the development of science and culture, the strengthening of language learning, the importance of studying modern sciences, and the role of Persian-Tajik thinkers in the advancement of global knowledge.

The conference continued with presentations: Professor Sayidrahmon Sulaimonov delivered a report on “The Culture of the Independence Period and the Future of Modern Tajik Arabic Studies”; Professor Rizaev Sayfiddin Gulverdi oglu spoke on “Literary Relations between Azerbaijani and Tajik Philology”; and Associate Professor Sayilov Golib Amirogo presented on “A Structural Comparison of the Azerbaijani Epic ‘Koroglu’ and the Tajik Epic ‘Gurughli’.”

In the discussion session, Professor Umarov Safarkhoja of the Department of Iranian Philology at Tajik National University and Associate Professor Karimjon Gadoev of the Department of English Language Teaching Methodology at the Tajik International University of Foreign Languages also spoke. They emphasized the importance of preserving the national language and promoting the study and research of Oriental philology, noting that organizing such conferences is both timely and necessary.

At the conclusion of the event, certificates were awarded to a number of researchers by the university administration.
