UK AMBASSADOR’S VISIT TO THE UNIVERSITY AND CLOSING OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE WEEK

A meeting was held at the Sotim Ulughzoda Tajik International University of Foreign Languages ​​between the university’s rector, Doctor of Philology, Professor Jilo Gulnazarzoda, and Catherine Smithton, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Republic of Tajikistan.

University rector Professor Jilo Gulnazarzoda emphasized that, thanks to the educational policies of the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, and President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, the country has created favorable conditions for the study of foreign languages, particularly Russian and English, which contributes to the strengthening of international ties and the expansion of cooperation.

It was noted that cooperation between Tajikistan and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland has consistently developed since independence and is now gaining new meaning in the fields of education, science, and culture.

Ambassador Catherine Smithton of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland expressed satisfaction with the level of scientific and cultural cooperation between the two sides and noted that expanding interaction in education, science, and foreign language learning is important for both countries.

Following the meeting, the guests participated in a cultural event to close English Language Week and presented certificates and souvenirs to the winners of the “Best English Language Experts” competition. The event concluded with a vibrant cultural program and a demonstration of the university students’ high level of English proficiency.
