Faculty of Russian Language and Literature
The university was founded in August 1980 on the basis of the A.S. Pushkin Tajik Pedagogical Institute of Russian Language and Literature. The Faculty of Russian Language and Literature has been functioning since the university was established.
From the very beginning, students were admitted to the programs “Russian Language and Literature” and “Russian Language and Literature in National Schools,” which remain the faculty’s main areas of specialization to this day.

Currently, the Faculty of Russian Language and Literature has four departments:
Для подготовки учителей русского языка и специалистов в области русского языка на факультете русского языка и литературы реализуются следующие образовательные программы, прошедшие международную аккредитацию. Выпускники данных программ получают диплом международного образца:
- 1-020302-00 – Russian Language and Literature (Teacher);
- 1-020302-01 – Russian Language and Literature in National Schools (Teacher);
- 1-210601-02 – Modern Foreign Languages (Russian Language – Translator);
- 1-010202-05 – Primary Education. Russian Language;
- 1-010102-03 – Preschool Education. Russian Language.
Currently, more than 500 students are enrolled in these programs at the Faculty of Russian Language and Literature. The students come not only from the Republic of Tajikistan but also from neighboring countries.
In addition, students enrolled in the Faculty’s teacher-training programs can pursue their studies through the Distance Learning Department.
The Faculty of Russian Language and Literature has a Student Scientific Society (SSS), whose members regularly participate in national competitions and academic Olympiads.
The Faculty operates a Russian Language Learning Center, a library with a collection of more than 900 copies of academic and literary works received from foreign countries, as well as a language laboratory.
The Russian Language Development Center is open to everyone interested in studying the Russian language and Russian culture. In addition, the Faculty of Russian Language and Literature hosts various academic, cultural, and educational clubs and associations, including «Русское слово», «Лингвист», «Молодой педагог», and «Пушкинский дом».
To support students in implementing a communicative approach to language learning, the Faculty has computer classrooms equipped with modern audiovisual facilities.
The Faculty of Russian Language and Literature invites prospective students to enroll in its current academic programs. Applicants can apply for the listed programs through the National Testing Center.
The Faculty provides all the necessary conditions for students’ education, including modern classrooms, a library, educational centers, and opportunities for academic and research development. Graduates of the Faculty acquire up-to-date knowledge and professional skills that enable them to pursue successful careers as teachers, translators, and language specialists.
