International relations

The Department of International Relations plays a key role in developing the university’s cooperation, ensuring academic mobility, fostering international partnerships, and integrating into the global educational space. Its mission is to strengthen the university’s position on the international stage and to create opportunities for students and faculty in the fields of education, research, and cultural exchange.

The Tajik State University of Foreign Languages named after Sotim Ulugzoda carries out its activities in the field of international relations in accordance with national strategies and sectoral development programs, placing special emphasis on strengthening international cooperation and improving the quality of education.

International cooperation is one of the key elements of the university’s development, contributing to the expansion of partnerships with higher education institutions, international organizations, and diplomatic missions. As a result, the network of foreign partners has expanded, and new educational, scientific, and innovative opportunities have been created.

The university regularly hosts foreign delegations from various countries, including the United Kingdom, France, Japan, Korea, India, China, Qatar, Turkey, and others. Meetings are mainly focused on implementing joint programs, developing academic exchange, establishing language centers, and attracting native-speaking instructors. In particular, initiatives have been proposed to establish English, French, German, and Japanese language centers, as well as to develop dual degree programs.

At the same time, university representatives actively participate in international conferences, forums, and seminars, establishing new academic and scientific connections. Hosting international events at the university, including seminars, competitions, and academic conferences, contributes to enhancing its reputation.

In the context of digitalizing cooperation, numerous online meetings have been held with foreign universities, where issues related to the development of joint programs, including dual degree programs and new courses, have been discussed.

Students’ achievements in international competitions, especially in Japanese and Korean languages, demonstrate the development of human potential and the high level of their training.

Within the framework of academic exchange, students are sent abroad, while international students are also attracted to the university, contributing to the diversity of the educational environment.

In addition, foreign instructors work at the university, and language courses for international citizens are organized, which positively impacts the institution’s international standing.

Agreements and memoranda of understanding are being signed with universities and international organizations, creating a legal foundation for expanding cooperation. In particular, the establishment of an international English language testing center (Linguaskill) is considered one of the significant achievements.

Furthermore, the Department of International Relations organizes international seminars, forums, and festivals, promoting intercultural dialogue and expanding global cooperation.

The development of strategic partnerships with leading global research centers enables the university to reach a new level in the fields of education and science.

The admission process to the university includes several important steps. International applicants must collect a package of documents, including a certificate of completion of a general education institution or diploma, language exam results (for example, IELTS, TOEFL or an internal university exam), a motivation letter and a letter of recommendation. Most importantly, take into account the deadlines for submitting documents and contact the Admissions Office (the university representative associated with international students) with the package of documents in a timely manner. The Department of International Relations provides detailed instructions on filling out forms, submitting applications, as well as advice on accommodation in a student dormitory.

After admission, international students receive comprehensive support. The university organizes adaptation programs, Tajik language courses, cultural events and academic consultations, familiarizing international students with the conditions of study at the university and living in the university student dormitory. BACHELOR’S DEGREE

There are 44 specializations in the Bachelor’s degree, covering all the studied languages ​​. From this number, the duration of study in 40 specializations is planned for 4 years, and 4 integrated specializations – for 5 years.

MASTER’S DEGREE

The Master’s degree trains specialists in 15 specializations. Training in all current Master’s specializations is designed for 2 years. 

RESEARCH AREAS IN DOCTORAL STUDIES (PhD)

The doctoral studies (PhD) of the university operates 8 specializations, from which 2 specializations have a dissertation council. After completing your Master’s degree, you can choose one of the research areas and study for 3 years for free or on a contract basis. During this period, you must conduct scientific research, as well as develop and publish scientific articles and participate in scientific events.

The Language Learning Center for Foreign Citizens is one of the subdivisions of the Department of International Relations. Its main goal is to organize language courses offered by the University for citizens of foreign countries.

Anyone interested in learning foreign languages and, at the same time, wishing to become acquainted with the culture and traditions of the Tajik people is welcome to apply to the University or contact the specialists of the Department of International Relations.

Language instruction is conducted by experienced and highly qualified teachers who are native speakers. Learners can study languages individually or in groups. Currently, most foreign citizens apply to study Tajik and Russian languages, and they manage to achieve impressive progress within a short period of time.

The University has signed Memoranda of Understanding, agreements, and contracts with 60 universities and institutes from both near and far abroad, as well as with foreign educational institutions and organizations operating in Tajikistan. Through these partnerships, the University has established active cooperation in educational, scientific, and cultural fields.
