DISCUSSION ON THE TEACHING OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES IN THE MODERN INFORMATION SPACE AT THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE

On November 28, 2025, the Tajik International University of Foreign Languages named after Sotim Ulugzoda hosted an international scientific-practical conference titled “The Process of Teaching Foreign Languages in the Modern Information Space: Innovations, Challenges, and Prospects” with the participation of a wide range of domestic and foreign scholars.

The conference was attended by the Rector of the University, Professor Zhilo Gulnazarzoda; Professor of the Department of Modern Russian Language of the Russian-Tajik (Slavonic) University, Tatyana Vladimirovna Guseinova; English language specialist of the American Council in Tajikistan, Linda Mary Chu; independent education consultant in English language teaching, Lisa Mann; English language specialist of the Innovation Institute of Dushanbe, Clen Clifford; English language specialist in Tajikistan, Drew Bennett; and Professor of the Department of Foreign Languages of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Gulmoh Shozieva.

Opening the conference, Professor Zhilo Gulnazarzoda welcomed the guests and emphasized that the issue of teaching foreign languages in the modern information environment is one of the most relevant and important for the society of Tajikistan. The Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, consistently highlights the importance of learning foreign languages based on a strong command of the Tajik language. He also instructs relevant institutions to begin foreign language education from preschool levels, develop new teaching methods and educational materials, and establish centers for foreign language learning.

The following speakers then presented their reports: Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences and Professor of the Department of Modern Russian Language of the Russian-Tajik (Slavonic) University, Tatyana Vladimirovna Guseinova, with the report “Textbooks of the Russian Language as an International Language in Schools with Tajik as the Language of Instruction”; English language specialist of the American Council in Tajikistan, Linda Mary Chu, with the report “Teaching and Learning in the Era of Artificial Intelligence: New Thinking in Language Education”; English language specialist of the Innovation Institute of Dushanbe, Clen Clifford, with the topic “Integration of Artificial Intelligence and Chatbots into Classroom Teaching Methodology”; and Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor of the Department of Foreign Languages of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Gulmoh Shozieva, with the report “The Role of Literary Translation in the Modern Era: Development and Prospects.”

A video presentation by independent education consultant Lisa Mann titled “Reframing Academic Writing as Critical Reading in the Age of AI” was also shown.

During the discussion session, Associate Professor of the Department of Comparative Linguistics and Translation Theory, Havasmo Sohibnazarova, and the Dean of the Faculty of International Relations, Muhabbatsho Qobilov, delivered their remarks.

At the conclusion of the conference, participants were awarded certificates.
