In 2008, in agreement with the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Tajikistan, Kemyong University of South Korea based on an agreement with the State Institute of Languages of Tajikistan named after Sotim Ulughzoda from 16.06.2008 opened the Center for the Study of Korean Language and Culture under the name “Kemyong Korean Language and Culture Center”. Later, in 2012, the Korean Language and Culture Center changed its name with the consent of Kemyong University and the Tajik State Institute of Languages named after Sotim Ulughzoda, which was signed by both parties on 01.03.2011, and until now it is operating under the name of “King Sejong” Language Learning Center. .
According to reference number 1-210 dated 26.06.2015, which was issued by the former rector of TGIL, Kh. Ziyaev confirmed that the classrooms on the 3rd floor of the Faculty of Oriental Languages (now Asian Languages) were assigned to the “Shah Sejong” Language Learning Center for use. In 2015, this center was completely renovated by the King Sejong Institute Foundation (one multimedia classroom, 4 classrooms for practical lessons, 1 classroom for teachers, 1 classroom for management and 1 computer classroom). In addition, the center has a library for students, where they can read books outside of classes. Since 2015, the center has laid the groundwork for learning the Korean language and organized three-month language courses every year in two periods (autumn and spring). In accordance with the License on the right to conduct educational activities under AU number 0002515, based on the order of the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan dated 03.04.2018, under number 1327, there are language courses at the Lingopark (Technology Park) of the university, one of these languages - the Korean language. Currently, in the spring semester of 2024, 158 people are enrolled in the preparation course for the Topic exam, and 76 people are enrolled in the Alphabet course.The preparation course for the Topic exam has a total of 11 groups, of which 8 are elementary groups and 3 are advanced groups. Currently, teachers of foreign languages from the Republic of South Korea Shin Nag-Kyun, Choi Mi-Hee, Lee Jong-Suk, Chong Yong-Hee and graduates of this department Normahmedov Irfan, Gairatjani Jumakhan, Safaraliyeva Mahbuba and Burkhanov Jahanbakht are working in the Center. In the last five years and six months, 1,800 language learners have graduated from the “Shah Sejong” Korean language learning center. Including:
