The Internship and Career Department was established by Resolution No. 4 of the Academic Council on November 30, 2011, and consists of two departments: a head and a specialist. The Internship and Career Department reports to the Department of Education in accordance with the university’s structure. The Department has its own regulations and operates in accordance with them.
The Internship and Career Department of the Sotim Ulughzoda Tajik International University of Foreign Languages has bilateral agreements with 29 general education institutions in Dushanbe, two universities (Tajik National University and S. Ayni Pedagogical University), one with the Abuabdullo Rudaki Institute of Language and Literature of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, and 18 state-owned enterprises and organizations. Students from eight faculties and one correspondence department of the university complete internships there. The Internship and Career Department’s mission is to mobilize students for educational, pedagogical, industrial, and pre-graduation internships, as well as to oversee the placement of young university professionals in the workplace.
Main activities of the Internship and Career Department:
- Internships are a key element of the educational process. Student internships are a mandatory component of the curriculum, aimed at reinforcing the theoretical knowledge acquired during their studies and acquiring practical skills and abilities in their chosen specialty.
- The purpose of internships is to consolidate acquired knowledge and acquire initial practical skills in solving specific problems in the organization and improvement of students’ professional skills through practical experience in the activities of an institution, educational institution, school events, organizations, and enterprises, as well as to develop independent work skills for future specialists in specific learning environments.
- The types and duration of internships are determined by educational standards and curricula, and are developed and approved by departmental internship programs. The organization and implementation of teaching internships are overseen by the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, the Head of the Academic Affairs Department, the Head of the Internship and Career Department, the Dean of the Faculty, the Heads of the Departments of Teaching Methodology for Specialized subjects, and the Heads of the General Education Departments of Pedagogical and Psychological studies at the institution of higher professional education. The supervisor of the educational or industrial internship fulfills their duties in accordance with the established structure of the pedagogical organization.
- Programs are developed jointly with the departments organizing the internships. Issues included in the program for the specialty being prepared are coordinated with the department and, jointly with the university’s industrial internship directorate, reviewed by a special methodological commission for the specialty, and approved by the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs. If necessary, programs are coordinated with ministries, departments, enterprises, educational institutions, and one or more educational institutions in the specialty and field of study. – Internship programs must correspond to the level of specialization of specialists, take into account specialization and reflect the latest achievements of science and industry, therefore they must be periodically (at least once every 5 years) reviewed and improved.
